I watched this movie yesterday and since then I’ve been thinking about it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie that made me feel so many raw emotions. When it went off I was completely speechless. For me, this is the best movie to come out this year. One of the best movies I’ve seen in years and that will always stick with me.

Absolutely brilliant movie. In my opinion the best Joker that’s been done ( I know heath ledger was absolutely fantastic in his role as joker also ) but this just edges it for me. Joaquin Phoenix really hits hard and it’s a powerful powerful performance. I can’t wait for the follow up movie/movies of this film.

I wish they would consider a Batman- Joker film with Phoenix. Really think it give the Dark Knight a run for its money if they got Batman right. This can’t be the end of the Joker with joaquin phoenix. Too good of an opportunity

10:09 he covers his neck and genitals like on instinct, maybe because of the beatings he took as a child. That's deep.

I love seeing things like this because the director can explain things that you may have had questions about or go in detail about things you would have never thought about. For example, the clown shoes when he was running after the kids- the thought of those being hard to run in would’ve never crossed my mind. So interesting to watch him break everything down

This was only about 10 min tops of the movie and it's so amazingly thought out and planned. Imagine the rest of the scenes and the way it sets the vibe, the way they connect music and cinematography. Movie was outstanding. So many scenes where you could feel Arthur crumble

The most sad and shocking moment for me was that his time with his neighbor was an illusion.... That broke my heart... I wish he had someone in his life... Atleast a friend who would give him some support.. 💔

To anyone who didn't knew about Joaquin Phoenix before, you should definitely watch 'You were never really here'and, he gave an extraordinary performance and the cinematography is phenomenal and I believe that movie kind of prepared him for 'Joker'.

The movie sucks because of the politically correct nature and falsehoods in the premise of the story. For example, nowhere in the world do gangs of educated bankers go around beating people up on subways, or anywhere for that matter. And why is it only ok to show violence against white people? Such nonsense. A movie made by a man with racism in his heart. A self hating white man projecting his racism on to everyone else. Choices made based on race ruined the movie.

I read somewhere that Arthur protects the back of his neck and crotch in the last scene as those are the critical areas in a body & he has been doing it for a long time owing to the past of his abuse & violence

He wanted to make every scene unsettling, and that he did. The only exception was the use of “ Rock and Roll” (The Hey Song) near the end. It was jarring and took me out of the moment. Other than that, dope.

SPOILER: This Joker isn't crazy. When he dicides to spare the life of the little man because he says "you were the only one nice to me", it shows some sort of compassion. Also when he plays with the kid in the bus, or when he does the magic trick to Bruce Wayne, he isn't a bad man. He just wants to be respected now, he just wants people to stop laughing at him. This portrait of the Joker was just amazing. He isn't a comic book character, he is a broken individual.

This is why this joker fails. He doesn't even understand comedy. A joker must understand comedy. Humor isn't subjective, it's actually extramely objective. If something isn't objectively funny, then it isn't comedy. That doesn't mean people have to laugh or get it, but there's nothing subjective about it, much like how Heath Legers Joker percieved comedy: he understood the comedy of people pretending to be civilized when they would eat each other to stay alive. There's an objective truth in that that makes it comedy, and as that iteration of the Joker identifies it as a bad joke, but a joke nonetheless. He understands jokes, he understands comedy. Humor is a science. When someone says comedy is subjective, they're wrong. They just have a post modern mindset where nothing actually matters, and there's a name for those people, pathetic. Joker isn't supposed to be pathetic or exist without batman, which is the worst part about this movie. The Joker only exists because of batman, and if you take that away, you don't have a real joker. You have a sad guy is makeup, which sounds pretty boring. And there's a reason for why this isn't a real Joker. He doesn't follow any of the Jokers foundational principles. No acid, no wife, and no real tragedy that creates him. The entire basis of his character is a mirror of batman, one bad day made him the person he was. This joker was always crazy and was abused. Yeah that's sad and tragic, but it's not how you make a Joker.
